This has the same ingredients I used for my viral Sushi Cake! I’d always say this is a lazy version of saucy sushi or a deconstructed one :)
Rice
Ingredients:
Sushi short-grain rice
Rice vinegar
Sugar
Salt
Furikake (opt.)
Instructions:
Cook the rice as usual.
Once cooked, mix with other ingredients.
Spicy Mayo Sauce
Ingredients:
Japanese mayonnaise
Sriracha/sambal
Instructions:
Mix everything together.
Protein
Use any proteins, either raw (sashimi-grade) or cooked. My preference is Salmon and crab stick*.
Pairings
Seaweed
Cucumber
Avocado
Jalapeno
Green onions
Wasabi
Assembly
Layer the rice, protein, and spicy mayo sauce.
Torch until the mayonnaise turns orange with slight burns (if using raw protein pls choose this so you don’t cook them), or broil in the oven at 400°F until golden.
Scoop and eat like a deconstructed sushi, with seaweed, cucumber, avocado, jalapeno, green onions, wasabi or anything you like
*I prefer cooked proteins when using a lot of sauce—sashimi-grade fish deserves to shine on its own in my opinion. But do what works for you. Maybe just don’t use chicken. Or do. Your call..
