Why @citedjo?

Back in high school, my friends started calling me “Ci Tedjo,” and I found it funny (and cute). In Indonesian, Ci is like “older sis” or noona, and Tedjo is a shortened version of my last name. So when I made my account, I just knew @CiTedjo had to be my username!

How to pronounce Ci Tedjo correctly?

Ci as in “Chee” in cheese + Tedjo: T - e (e in egg) - d is silent - jo (Joe) = Chee Tejoe

When did I start cooking & posting videos?

Honestly, I used to hate cooking because it was always so hot back home. My mom did most of the cooking, and I ate out a lot. But I’ve loved baking for as long as I can remember, and during the pandemic in 2020, I really dove into it.

When I moved abroad, I realized that cooking was way more essential than baking. I also missed Indonesian food so much, and since it wasn’t easy to find, I started learning on my own. And now? I love cooking just as much as baking!

As for posting videos, I’ve been doing it for a while—just not always about cooking. (Please don’t tell me if you’ve stalked my old stuff... I was so cringe)

When I started learning to cook in 2021, I posted just for fun. I never imagined it would grow into what it is today.

A little more about me

  • I have a sweet tooth. I love pastries. I love matcha and chocolate.

  • If I had to pick one favorite cuisine, it’d be Indonesian, of course.

  • I love hosting, dressing up, going to concerts, photography, arts, architecture… and Star Wars??

  • More life content? It’s on my personal IG @giolunt—though, fair warning, I barely post. I also just started a YouTube account for longer videos!

  • My music taste is everywhere—pop, R&B, house, rap, jazz. Give me a song rec, and I’ll listen! (Check out my Spotify.)

One last thing!

I create and manage everything you see here—from writing Substack posts to recording and editing IG Reels/TikToks, and even YouTube videos—so it can be a little tricky for me to post as often. I truly appreciate your understanding and patience!

I don’t post every recipe from my videos. Sometimes the ingredients are super straightforward, or it’s just prep work, or I’m experimenting, or I’m using someone else’s recipe (usually on caption). I only share the ones that truly feel right—ones that work best for me and my palate (though yours might be different!). I’m always learning too, so feel free to share your advice and recommendations. Let’s grow together!

If you’re a paid subscriber—thank you so much! Your support truly means the world to me. And if you ever feel like upgrading, it’s a great way to help me keep creating and experimenting (social media doesn’t pay me for my videos because I am located in Canada, and ingredients can get pricey!). But no pressure—my recipes will always be available on every plan. :)
